Sad to hear of Patrick's death today. He was very proud of his son.
One day, I was crossing the Tolka with six Library books and I met Patrick. He told me to read them slowly and to savour them. Good advice. I seem to remember that he bought a big German dictionary for his son. One of Nature's gentlemen. Heaven is richer and Earth is poorer for his passing.

To all the contributors and sympathisers offering their sincere condolences on the sad passing of my brother, Pat, I wish to thank you all for your kind and profound thoughtful words of support and comfort. Sharing your heartfelt memories of Pat and the recall of the good times of a kindred friendship was heart-warming and gave great comfort to all members of the Shortall family. Pat was blessed to have so many great friends whom he profoundly valued and was extremely proud of all his acquaintances. He spoke often of the many happy days, late evenings, and joyful events he shared with his special friends. And there too, I wish to offer my sincere thanks to his ever attentive loving neighbours who cared for him deeply, and constantly kept watch over him.
To Fr. Richard and all those who tended to Pat’s final days, I wish to express my sincere thanks and gratitude. He too would have been overwhelmed by the loving care and display of respect on this solemn occasion.
Losing a loved one is never easy, but the warmth and love shown by friends, neighbours, and those who cared, provided a great sense of solace and support. Wishing you all continued strength and peace during this time of mourning.
On behalf of all the Shortall’s and extended family, I wish to say thank you and may God bless you and your every day.
John and family.
