My sincere condolence to Johnny, Nicky, James, Bren, Terry & Billy, & wife Trish, his kids and the extended Kavanagh family on your heavy loss. Sting was one of the older lads to look up to in my time growing up in the town. Re christened with the coolest of nicknames that gave an early warning, if needed, as to what a weapon he could be on a playing field. He lived up to his title admirably & was a delight to watch in action. God bless him and may he rest in peace.
— Cathal O'Sullivan

Our sincere condolences to Trish and family on the sad passing of Sting. Some wonderful tributes to the talent and wit of this special man. A generational talent on the football pitch in soccer and GAA and no slouch at rugby. I was lucky enough to play with him and the laughter and banter was as memorable as the games themselves. There was only one Sting. I am richer for knowing him. Rest in peace.
Aidan, Alice and lads.
