I am so sorry to hear about Patrick. Celia you made such a great team. He was so knowledgeable in all Equestrian matters and always so happy to share his knowledge and help as you do Celia. I have so many happy memories of you both and have learned so much too. My sister Caoilfhionn knew you both from her working with events at Castletown and me knowing you both via Equestrianism, it was amazing the chats we had surrounding you both. Big hugs Celia and thinking of you.

Patrick was kind enough to ask us, together with our young son, to stay during Dublin Horse Show years ago when he made sure that we had a chance to see her beloved horse Paddy who had returned to them after her untimely death.

The late Lord Carew was the most wonderful role model for me in my youth. I recall the kindness and graciousness he showed me many years ago when, in the process of helping me to extricate our car from a quagmire at Ballinkeele Horse Trials, he was rewarded by being absolutely covered from head to toe in mud as it was propelled towards him furiously by the rapidly spinning tyres! I was mortified. But he didn't complain. He saw the humour in it and he laughed hysterically. What an absolutely wonderful man he was! To Lady Carew (who judged my dressage that day), his dear sister Baroness Wrangel, his children and extended family, I send my deepest sympathies. The only thing that could possibly be worse than losing him would be to never have known him. May he rest in peace.
