We are deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Raoul. Please accept our heartfelt condolences during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with Seiko and family
It's been a long friendship since we met in Zurich-Regensdorf in 1974. We fondly remember our time in Caslano, Barcelona, and at our home. We valued his exceptional social skills and empathy. We miss his paintings of everyday life, as well as his critical portrayals of world politics.
We miss you and wish you all the best on your journey.
Rest in Peace.

Dear Seiko and family,

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of knowing Raoul since 2008, and over the years, as his gardener, I also became his friend. I will always cherish the many cups of tea we shared, the stories he told from his rich and varied life, and the kindness he showed so effortlessly.

Raoul had a warmth and presence that made time spent with him truly special. His generosity, wisdom, and gentle spirit will be dearly missed but never forgotten. My heart goes out to you, Seiko, and to all his family during this difficult time. May you find comfort in the love he gave and the memories you shared.

With deepest sympathies,
— David Neavyn

We are greatly saddened on hearing that Raoul de Gendre had passed to his eternal reward. A world class gentleman whom we got to know in the early 1990’s . Raoul was a Swiss native who fell in love with Kinsale as he felt very much at home. This entrepreneur decided to take roots in the heart of Kinsale and purchase The Vintage Restaurant. He became a very valued member of Kinsale Good Food Circle and other initiatives such as The Wine Geese. This connection is reflected in the wine list with wines featured from all of the great families and vineyards of Irish origin. We offer our sincere condolences to his wife Seiko and their extended families. May Raoul rest in eternal peace and happiness.

Very sad to hear that Raoul has passed away yesterday. He was a very interesting person who brought a lot to the food forums in Kinsale bringing chefs in from main land Europe, who then shared their experiences,as we did with ours.
Once bringing in a Chef from Switzerland (Marco) and asked if I could assist as his then girlfriend (Franz) was a pastry chef and he wouldn't have sufficient work for her. It was the best thing to happen, Franz proved to be invaluable, and we became the best of friends and still are today.
So thank you Raoul.
Rest in peace.
