Rest in peace, Father John, cousin of my mother (Phyllis Doherty). Thank you for giving me a lifetime of playing Irish traditional music, which began when, as a boy, I first heard you and your Dad playing in our house at Bogslea in the Old Shantallow.
RIP Fr John. I have very fond memories of my time in Ventures 2 choir. You were a wonderful priest.
Dear Father John, I will miss you, I especially liked your teaching on a Sunday, you always had such a good description, of what you talked about to the point that it left an impact certainly in my life Thank You 🙏

I was so deeply saddened to hear of Fr John's passing. I was lucky enough to encounter Fr John as a teenager when he served in the Lifford /Clonleigh parish. Without a shadow of a doubt, the nicest, most humble and kindest priest I have ever met. After Fr John moved to Strabane parish, for 30 years, we continued to exchange Christmas cards (I had also long moved from Donegal) and I would eagerly await his card, with his beautiful handwriting, every year. Rest in eternal peace Fr John, you did your work here on earth in the most humble of fashion and you will be rewarded with the best bed in heaven. I will miss our correspondence every year. Sleep well Fr John.
Sorry to hear of the passing of Fr John. Remembering him fondly from times spent in Donegal and Dublin. A good friend to our family over the years . Rest - In - Peace
Sincere condolences on the death of Fr. John. May he rest in eternal peace
Prayerful sympathy to Bishop Donal, Fr. Michael Doherty and all those who remember with gratitude the genial and revered Fr. John who epitomised all that is admirable and praiseworthy in the priesthood. May he rest in perfect peace. Amen.
Sincere condolences from an old neighbour perviously from St. Patricks Terrace, Pennyburn, Derry. RIP Fr. John.
