Roddy, a true gentleman, had unique & timeless talents. I happily remember being on a ca. ‘65 schools TV quiz team with him & a few classmates (Chris Curren’s ‘Mark Time’?…. sadly we were beaten by a Galway Girls Team!). They were great days! May Roddy Rest In Peace. -Frank O’Donnell

My condolences to Emer and family re the passing of Roddy. I was in class with Roddy in Oatlands. I remember he was a very good student, and that his cursive handwriting was beautiful to behold. I heard about Roddy's passing from Brian Duffy, who was my neighbor and a fellow student at the time. I am in California and regrettably was not able to attend Roddy's funeral. Dom.

Sorry to hear of Roddy passing, I have fond memories of Roddy from our time in class together at school. He was one of life’s gentlemen in the making at school and in our somewhat brief encounters down the years he reinforced that opinion.

Miriam and I were very sorry to hear of Roddy's death -sincere condolences to Emer and the wider Buckley and Lawlor families from us both. We watched the wonderful and very moving funeral service online.

Roddy was a year ahead of me in Oatlands College and as Fergal Mc Mahon has recalled, Roddy won the Oatlands College Gold Medal for debate. Fergal and I and others took part in that debate and I came second to Roddy. The following year - with Roddy safely ensconced in UCD -I managed to win the Gold Medal myself. Roddy was a superb debater and public speaker. Many years later - and in what seems another life - our paths crossed again at a dinner in Kings Inns where Roddy and others were marking the anniversary of their call to the Bar and I was a neophyte second career barrister.

May Roddy's gentle soul rest in peace and enjoy the heavenly reward he so deserves after a life so well lived.

Very sorry to read this news. I sat beside Roddy for Leaving Cert Honours Latin among other subjects up to 1965. He was a big help to me.
