Heartfelt condolences to the Doyle & Butler families on the sad passing of my beloved brother, Seán. He was a very special person who cast a calm over every situation.

His family was his world, a world of happiness & contentment, where with Anne, Maeve, Siobhán, Paul & Eóin, he created a perfect home.

In his work he was able with great ease to solve the most difficult problems. He was admired & respected by all his GRE colleagues & everyone he dealt with.

We grew up in a very happy home & had a very happy childhood together with all our siblings, spending our holidays in Askanagap (“The Gap”). There, in The Billy’s field, below the shop, he learned & excelled in the art of Gaelic football. Such a great player, he took Newtown from junior to intermediate to senior, culminating in achieving their first Wicklow Senior Championship win in 1964. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Newtown GAA club for honouring Seán posthumously with the no.6 jersey.

As a member of Macroom Golf club, he mastered golf & I am fortunate to have great memories of the quality time spent together on the course.

He was a guiding light to all. He was always interested in catching up with all members of our family & their wellbeing. Our children adored him. He took every opportunity afforded to him when working in our area to make time for a cup of coffee.

He was a credit to his Wicklow & Wexford roots, a gentleman & my hero. May he rest in peace.
