Very very sorry to hear of the passing of my old friend Séan. He had a major influence on the course of my life. Under enormous pressure at home to get a job following my Leaving Cert it was himself and the late Alo Quinn, both working in the Longford Leader at the time, who suggested I should give journalism a try. It was a light-bulb moment. It led to a very rewarding and successful career. Thanks Séan. May you rest in peace. My deepest sympathy to all the family.

Seán was a unique character. A great storyteller, a man of principles and integrity. I always enjoyed his company whenever and wherever we met - whether on the street or in Browne’s or Clarke’s pub.
