Her departure leaves the world a poorer place now that she is no longer here. Her easy manner and her unfailing sense of humour and fun were a joy. Anyone who knew her for any length of time could not avoid being attracted to her. She got more than the usual span of life and she made the best use of her time. Her life was devoted to teaching and caring for people as a true disciple of the Lord. May she rest peacefully eternally in his presence.

Saying goodbye to an old friend is how I felt as I watched Sr Mercedes funeral mass, I clapped after her niece and friend both finished speaking about her life. To me she was a múinteoir and friend and a constant Ray of sunshine she was there for me when my mum passed at 16 she had known exactly how I felt,
She instilled a love of Irish in me at school in Ballisodare and then brightened our days in Collooney when she moved here, every person who's spoken of her passing has had a smile or a lovely story to tell of her helping them, Sitting with or just listening to them.
She made the world a nicer place and we are the richer for knowing her xx go raibh maith agat Máiréad 💚

My sincere sympathy to the Murray family and Sisters of Mercy on the death of Sr Mairead. She taught me in the late 1950s in Ballisodare. Many years later I met her again and she was the same happy, cheerful and caring person with the beaming smile that I remembered from our school days. Rest in peace Sr Mairead.

What a chirpy fun loving person ‘Sr Mercedes’ was. So sorry to learn that the Sisters of Mercy have lost yet another valued and loved member of their faith family. Mairead was always a welcomed visitor to the various Clancy family occasions or a casual visit to our home, our late parents Fursey and Kitty treasured their chats. Sincere condolences to her extended family and the Sisters of Mercy may she rest in peace.

I visited her in Ard Bride and Cuan Chaitriona great fun and full of life. She always said I am so happy and she went through the picture taken at her 90th in Cork. May she rest in peace
