Deepest sympathy to Mary and all the community in Tuam, and to the Kiernan family on the death of Monica. My memories of Monica go way back to primary school in the 1950s in Drogheda and the May procession in the nuns garden. We would glimpse a very young Monica standing outside the convent kitchen watching us, always with a beautiful smile. She fed us all as boarders in Greenhills, and was known to slip a piece of chocolate discreetly into your hand if she thought you needed cheering up .In Portadown Monica spoilt us with fine food and her desserts were legendary! May Monica continue to light up the Heavens with her beautiful smile . Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dilis.

So sorry to read of Sr Monica's death. She and her family and the Presentation sisters will be in my prayers. Unfortunately I am unable to travel with 2 funerals here tomorrow and Tuesday. She was always so welcoming on our visits to Portadown so many years ago. She always had a smile and went out of her way to feed us well. Eternal rest grant her O Lord.
