Dear Colin,
To you (and your family members too) my sincere sympathies on the death of your mother. I don't believe that I ever met your mother but of course I knew Tony, your Dad quite well through Brookfield Tennis Club (away back when) and then also served in the A&L trenches in your good company. So, Colin, just to say that I'm thinking of you (and Tony) and wishing you all the best at this sad time for you.
