Kathleen Muldoon
(née Shaughnessy)

Clonkela, Tiernascragh, Ballinasloe, Galway

Kathleen passed away peacefully at her home in her 96th year on Sunday, 2nd August 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Fintan.

 

A devoted mother, she will be sadly missed by her loving children; Mary (Dallas), Teresa (Kent), Margaret Cunningham (Claregalway), Gerard (Victoria, B.C.), Conrad (Loughrea), Maurice (Clontuskert), Brian (Loughrea), Brendan (Athenry), Kevin (Clonkela) and Vincent (New York).

 

Kathleen is predeceased by her sister Maureen Donnelly (Tiernascragh), her brothers John Joe (Ballynew, Portumna), Willie (Melbourne), Ralph (England), Gus (Killorglin), Mike (Dublin) and her daughters-in-law; Martha and Karen.

 

Kathleen was a loving and adored grandmother to her thirty-one grandchildren and her seven great grandchildren and she will be deeply missed by them and her daughters-in-law, Sheila, Deirdre, Mella, Dina, and her son-in-law P.J,  her nieces, her nephews, the extended Muldoon and Shaughnessy families, her neighbours and many friends.

May her Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.

 

Due to government restrictions and continuing public health guidelines on gatherings, Kathleen’s removal, Requiem Mass and burial will be private to the immediate family.

 

Kathleen's funeral cortège will leave her home on Thursday evening 6th August at 6.30pm and is expected to arrive at Tiernascragh Church at 7.00pm for the receiving of the remains. Friends and neighbours are invited, if they wish, to stand at their gates, or line the route as a mark of support for the family.

 

Kathleen’s Requiem Mass will take place on Friday, 7th August, at 12 (noon) in the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Tiernascragh. The mass will be streamed live and can be accessed HERE. Mass will be followed by burial in Kilmalinogue Cemetery, Boula.

 

Please be sure to adhere to social distancing guidelines if forming a gathering along the route to the church or cemetery.

 

Those who would have liked to attend, but who cannot due to current restrictions may forward messages of comfort and support through the "Condolences" section below. Family flowers only please. Donations, if desired, to Galway Hospice.

 

A public Memorial Mass for Kathleen will take place at a later date.
