The untimely and unexpected death has taken place of Michael O’Neill of Ballymackessy, Ballylongford and formerly of Ahanagran Middle and Pulleen, Tarbert. Mike, as he was more affectionately known, died in the excellent care of the wonderful staff of Kerry University Hospital on Tuesday 23rd June 2020, surrounded by his loving and heartbroken family, in his 53rd year. He is predeceased by his loving parents Brendan and Ena and sister Fiona. Mike is deeply regretted by his loving wife Katherina, a wonderful and loving father to daughters Katie, Molly, Fiona and son Martin. Sadly missed and deeply regretted by his mother-in-law Noreen (Lynch), brothers Jim (Cloyne, Co. Cork), Brendan (Gneeveguilla), Brian (Ballybunion), Paudie (Castlegregory), sisters Norma (Duagh), Catherina (Glencar), Aunt & god-mother Ann Costello, Aunts Theresa Canavan (Listowel), Mary Hayes (Tralee), Noreen Buckley (Cork), Peggy O’Carroll (London), Uncle John Flavin (Clare) brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, God-children Lorraine Costello, Colm & Emma O’ Neill and Oisin Healy, Ballymackessy neighbours, Family relatives, very special friends Peter Stack & Laura Denihan and large circle of friends.

Funeral Arrangements: Please note: Due to the Coronavirus and in line with best practice taken from government advice regarding public gatherings, Michael’s (Mike’s) Funeral Mass and Interment at Cemetery is strictly restricted to family members only, in compliance with current guidelines. Michael’s (Mike’s) remains will be removed from his residence for Funeral Mass & Interment which will take place on Monday, June 29th after 1o'clock Mass at St Michael the Archangel Church, Ballylongford, with Funeral immediately afterwards at Lislaughtin Abbey.

People who wish to show their respects by means of standing in a guard of honour like assembly, may do so, either on route to the Church for the funeral Mass or afterwards, on route between Church and Cemetery, but must strictly observe social distancing rules of 2 metres, please.

Those who would have liked to attend the funeral, but due to current restrictions cannot do so, please leave your personal message by clicking on the section below marked “Condolences” at the bottom left hand side of this page.

 

A Memorial Mass to celebrate Michael’s (Mike’s) life will be celebrated at a later date.

 

Donations, if desired, to the I.C.U. of Kerry University Hospital, Tralee or through Lynch’s Funeral Directors Ballylongford.
