Thomas Michael O'Hara

87 of Woodlyn, PA, USA and formerly, Castlerea, Roscommon

Thomas Michael O'Hara, 87 of Woodlyn, PA passed away peacefully July 3, 2022. He was born in Roscommon, Ireland to the late Michael and Mary Ellen (Kearney) O'Hara where he spent his youth. He emigrated to the United States in his early 20's. He settled into the Philadelphia area and happily made that his home.

 

Thomas was a long standing parishioner of Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church. He was an active member in the Irish community and a member of The Irish Center. In years past he was often found carrying the Irish flag in the parade. He worked for many years as a Union Construction Worker and was a member of the Laborers Union 413. Also, Thomas had lots of stories from the time he worked as a Coal Miner.  One of his biggest loves was his dog, Patsy who was his constant companion for the past 5 years and before that, his dog Pat who walked by his side for almost 10 years. Thomas was an avid sports fan: most especially for football. He was a loyal supporter of the Philadelphia Eagles and would happily chat about how they were doing, good or bad with whomever would listen. He also liked baseball and was a very big fan of horse races. Thomas was predeceased by his siblings; John, Patrick, Michael and Cornelius O'Hara.

 

Thomas is survived by his loving sisters; Margaret (the late Fred) Mole and Lena (the late Bill) Schofield; cherished uncle of Amanda (Joe) Younger, Maureen (James) Dolan, Siobhan (Brian) Mahon, William (Susan) Mole, Diane Hunter, Tony (Julie) Schofield, Claire (Chris) Duerden, Lynsey (Steven) Devine, Hayley, Christopher, Lisa, Marie and Johann O'Hara, loving great uncle of Devon (Eric) Huber, who is taking care of his beloved dog, Patsy and many more cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his good friends & family, who have shared many fond memories over the years, Patsy Jordan & her family, JudyAnn Sheehan & family and Pat Larson & family.

 

Relatives and friends are invited to his Viewing Wednesday, July 27, 2022 9:30am Our Lady of Peace Church, 208 Milmont Ave. Milmont Park, PA 19033 and to his Funeral Mass 10:30am in the Church. Burial SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
