Focus Ireland

Focus Ireland works with people who are homeless or are at risk of losing their homes across Ireland. We offer individuals, and families, advice, support, education and housing to help people to have and keep a home.

We believe that everyone has a right to a place they can call home and we campaign to address the causes of homelessness.

Focus Ireland are driven by the fundamental belief that homelessness is wrong. Wrong, because it is a failure of society that creates victims out of ordinary people and robs them of their potential.

Wrong because it can be reinvented, it can be solved but is allowed to continue.6,525 people are homeless today in Ireland, this is the highest number ever recorded.

– 6,525 people are homeless today in Ireland, this is the highest number ever recorded.

– 1 in every 3 in emergency accommodation is a child.

– More than half of all children living in an emergency accommodation are under 8 years old.

Services we provide

Prevention & Housing Advice

Prevention services are key to solving the current crisis of families becoming homeless in Ireland. It is more effective to prevent a family first becoming homeless than to work with a homeless family to secure accommodation.

Support services for families

Our Family prevention and case management services help families throughout Ireland. We assess the needs of the family and access appropriate housing in the shortest time possible.

Additional supports limit the disruption and harm for the children and minimise the risk of the family returning to homelessness.

Support Services for Young People

Programmes specifically tailored for at risk young people, particularly those leaving State Care.

Services include prevention, emergency accommodation, project work, case-work, back-to-education, training and apprenticeships

Housing: Short and Long-Term

We provide housing to those at risk of homelessness who need long term support so they can have and keep a home.

Other innovative & research based services

Our self-funded projects frequently provide vital services that are not currently funded by the State.  Significantly these services sometimes prove so successful in Pilot Projects that they are then fully-funded by the State going forward e.g. both Housing First and our Family Action teams started as independent pilot projects but are now funded by the state.
