Diabetes Ireland
Living with diabetes is not easy! However, with the right help, advice and support there is no reason why Irish people with diabetes cannot live life to the full. This is our goal and each year through our patient education, information and care services we provide that support to thousands of Irish people with diabetes and their families when needed most.
In 2016, Diabetes Ireland held over 290 health promotion, education and support events nationwide. More than 5,800 people contacted our Diabetes Helpline and 304,750 visitors accessed our website. Through our Children’s Club and our Parents Support Group network around the country, we continued to provide opportunities for children, adolescents and their families to meet and support each other.
Diabetes Ireland Care Centre
Our Diabetes Care Centre in Santry, Dublin continued to grow and we opened our second Care Centre in Cork where we will continue to develop and expand services this year. Through these Centres, we provide access to direct one-to-one care services such as eye screening, footcare, dietetics, counselling and hearing services as well as access to structured group education programmes.
Our team of practitioners have expertise in the needs of people with diabetes. They work together to provide the best possible service to our members. This means we can provide a seamless and integrated range of healthcare services. We can look at the person’s health from every angle to make sure they get the care they need to maximise their health and quality of life.

Leave a gift in your will
The opening of our Diabetes Care Centres were both made possible through two large bequests which the charity received. Of course your first priority when making a will is to provide for your loved ones, but many people also leave something to a cause they hold dear.
Leaving Diabetes Ireland a gift in your will is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can support us. Our aim is to open further Care Centres in Ireland. A gift does not have to be large because every little helps.
