RNLI Lifeboats

We are the RNLI: the charity that saves lives at sea. Every day of every year, people of all backgrounds get into danger in the water. It’s a problem that we’re here to tackle.

The RNLI operates across Ireland, as well as within the UK, providing a strategically located fleet of all-weather lifeboats, which are available at all times, and tactically placed inshore craft, which are subject to weather limitations. We also operate a lifeguard service on a seasonal basis and run coastal safety, research and education programmes. 

In addition to this, RNLI flood rescue volunteers stand by, ready to assist the Fire and Rescue Service and other emergency services in search and rescue operations.

Further afield, the RNLI is working internationally to raise awareness of the significant global drowning problem and grow prevention and rescue capacity within high-risk communities.

With 95% of our total income coming from generous donations and legacies, we depend on our dedicated volunteers and supporters to save lives at sea. Your support means our lifesavers can reunite the 23 people they rescue each day with their families. So, however you choose to get involved, you can feel good knowing you’re making a difference.
