George McGrath

Knockenree, Arklow, Wicklow

George’s wife Nancy, children Carol, Sinéad & Richard & all his extended family wish to express our most sincere thanks for the support & kindness shown to us at the time of George’s sad passing & in the weeks since.

To those who called to the funeral home to pay your respects, we thank you. Equally thank you to the many family & friends who couldn’t be present but joined in the celebration of George’s life via webcam, sent letters, Mass cards, kind & comforting online messages & those who donated generously to www.alzheimer.ie  in his memory. A heartfelt thanks to our neighbours & friends who stood out to honour George’s final journey.

Our eternal gratitude to Dr. Buggle & the team at Sheltoville Surgery, to the doctors, nurses & staff of St. Colmcille’s Hospital, to the public health nurses at Arklow Health Centre & to the management & staff of Armstrong Life Pharmacy for their invaluable assistance & care. To carers Teresa Myers, Celsa Cloran & Teresa Tui & the palliative care team whose expertise & kindness assisted Nancy in bringing George the care & dignity he needed while remaining in the home he loved. Heartfelt thanks also to our dear friends who made so many visits & kept George company throughout his illness.

To our own extended families, our colleagues, neighbours & friends, the kindness, thoughtfulness, support & respect shown to us & to George’s memory will never be forgotten.

Many thanks to our dear friend Fr John Deasy, Fr David Brough & Fr Pádraig Ó’Cochláin for such comforting prayers, guidance & beautiful funeral Mass & to Michael Flood & Patricia Kavanagh for such lovely music.

Thanks also to Hoey’s Bridge Hotel for their wonderful hospitality, to Joe from RSS for tending to the grave & to all at John Sweeney & Sons Funeral Directors.

We trust that this acknowledgement will be accepted by all as a token of our sincere appreciation.

The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for the intentions of all.

George’s Month’s Mind Mass will be celebrated on Sunday 3rd October at 11.30am in St.’s Mary & Peter’s Church & all are welcome to join via the parish webcam.
