Rosemary, Gerard, Anthony, Chris and their extended family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming love and support which has surrounded us over the past year since Con’s passing.
Covid placed many restrictions on how we could celebrate Con’s life, however unlike many others, we were blessed to be with him in his final hours and to be able to bring him home one last time.
We will be forever grateful to Professor Enright and the Haematology team, Nurse Laura Lonergan and the Day Ward team and Kay, Jenny, Anne and the team on Maguire Ward. Con spent many days under the care of the staff in Tallaght hospital and often referred to it as his holiday home, such was the kindness and friendship shown on his many visits. Thanks also to the chaplains, Fr. Kelly, Shauna, Gabriela and Maria. Thank you also to Blood and Platelet donors across the country, our GP Gordon Cantwell and the staff at New Bawn Pharmacy.
Special thanks to Fr. Tim Mulcahy for the beautiful Mass and for visiting our home to pray with us, despite being in the midst of a pandemic. Thanks also to Catherine Byrne and accompanist for the beautiful singing and music. Thanks to Nollaig Ryan and staff at Fanagan’s Funeral Home for your professionalism, attention to detail and care of our family during our difficult time.
Thank you to all in Leixlip Musical and Variety Group, of which Con was a founding member and performer for over 40 years, for the guard of honour at the church, the beautiful videos and dedication of the new rehearsal room in Con’s honour. Thanks also to Noeleen Lynam for the beautiful blog post, Karl Harpur for his tribute and to Claire Tighe and all at Theatreworx for your remembrance of Con in your Christmas Panto last year. It is heartening to see you all on stage once again and we appreciate your continued support and friendship.
To our friends in Thomas Davis GAA Club for the beautiful guard of honour in the club car park, representing all facets of the club in which Con was involved. It was a sight to behold. Thank you for the abundance of food delivered to the house and for your continued support. A special word of thanks to Padraig Dwane for his fabulous poem “An Ode to Con Deasy”.
To all who phoned, sent mass cards, flowers, letters and posted so many tributes across all social media forums, we are amazed and humbled with your beautiful comments and thoughts.
Our appreciation to Con’s and Chris’s colleagues in the Frank Keane group, Gerard’s colleagues in Kellogg’s, Anthony’s friends and colleagues in D+J Civil and John Mitchells GAA Australia.
Last and by no means least, thank you to our family and friends throughout the world who joined us on webcam and who have supported us in these sad days. Our special thanks to our neighbours for their kindness and ongoing support. We are so blessed to have you all.
Mass is offered for the intentions of all.
