Thomas (Tommy, Lal) Cunningham

 Thomas (Tommy, Lal) Cunningham

Drogheda, Louth

Late of Creeven Tce., North Road, and formerly of Carmelite Cottages, Marsh Road, Drogheda.

Died on 25 October 2020.

On the occasion of Tommy's months mind, the family, wife Breda, son Stephen (Newbridge Co. Galway) and daughters Susan and Helen (Hartnett, Newbridge, Co.Kildare) would like to express our sincere thanks for the sympathy, kindness and support received on our sad loss of a husband, father, and grandfather.

We wish to express our gratitude to our extended family, close neighbours and friends who provided emotional and practical support to us at this difficult time.

We truly appreciate the many ways people have got in touch with us, despite the Covid-19 restrictions. The cards, letters, messages of condolences, phone calls and neighbourly visits, all helped to make the loss more bearable.  To family, neighbours and friends who attended outside the house at removal to church, to all those who attended at the church and in the graveyard, a special thank you.  Also, to family members and friends who could not attend due to Covid-19 restrictions, but remembered us in their prayers, thank you.

A special word of thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff on Newgrange Level 1 of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital for their exceptional care and attention given to Tommy and their kindness to Breda during Tommy's short stay in hospital.  To Home Instead Carers, Lorraine and Lisa-Marie, thank you for the thoughtful care given to Tommy, and to Rachel and Boyne Primary Care team, thank you for your care and support. To Dr. Colm Leahy of North Gate Surgery, a special thank you for home visits, sensitive support and care. We thank the whole team at  P. Townley & Sons, Funeral Directors, for their support, kindness, guidance and assistance. To the gravediggers, we thank you for your care in preparing Tommy's final resting place.

Sincere thanks to Fr. Ciprian Solomon CC St Mary's Church, for his kindness in recitation of prayers at the house, celebrating the funeral mass and attending the Graveyard for final prayers.  Also, thanks to Olivia, Roisin and Evelyn for the beautiful music and singing at the funeral mass, and to the sacristan and all who prepared the church.

As it would be impossible to thank everyone individually, we trust that this acknowledgment will be accepted by all as a token of our sincere appreciation.  The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be offered for your intentions.

The Month's Mind Mass for Tommy will be held on Sunday, 29 November 2020, at 10.00am in St. Mary's Church.  In accordance with government guidelines, Mass will be streamed live on www.stmarysdrogheda.ie.

God saw the road was getting tough,
The hill was hard to climb,
He gently closed your weary eyes,
And whispered "Peace be thine".

May he rest in peace
