The death has occurred peacefully of Betty Whelan, née Heavey, Clover Hill, Callaighstown, Kells, Co Meath, in the loving care of her family and the dedicated staff of Beaufort House Nursing Home, Navan, Sunday 16th October, aged 82 years.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Paddy and daughter Martina, her sisters Peggy (Margaret) and Eileen, brothers Joe, Christopher (Sonny) and James and is survived by her loving daughters Kathleen Mc Gowan (Trim), Jane (Kells), Mary Alice (Mullagh), her sister Jean, grandchildren Darrell, Emma, Sean, Kathy, Kevin, Paddy, Christy, Jake, Ciara, Bethan, son in law Brendan, sister in law and best friend Mary Whelan, nieces, nephews, in-laws and a wide circle of friends.
Betty will repose at the residence of her daughter Jane, 87 The Glebe, Kells A82H6W8, on Tuesday from 4-8pm. House strictly private thereafter. Removal on Wednesday at 12.30pm to arrive at St Colmcille's Church for funeral Mass at 1pm which can be viewed on https://www.kellsparish.ie/ followed by burial in St Colmcille's Cemetery.
Betty will be fondly remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend to many. She loved the company of others, a chat and a sing song. She had a great devotion to Our Lady and made many trips to Our Lady's Shrine in Knock, when in good health. In recent years, due to poor health, Betty was cared for by her family and the wonderful staff of Beaufort House Nursing Home where she won the hearts and affection of the staff and residents.
