Brendan Malone: A Life of Wisdom, Storytelling, and Devotion (Dingle and Cork); , a cherished father, devoted grandfather, and man of great intellect, on November 26th, 2024, passed away peacefully at 56 in the care of Marymount Hospice after a brief but brave battle with cancer. Surrounded by his loving children—Lisa, Étaín, Rían, and Senan—his final moments reflected the deep love he gave throughout his life. Born in Dingle, West Kerry, Brendan’s early years were shaped by the rugged beauty of the sea and nature, inspiring a lifelong passion for the outdoors.

From lobster fishing on Dingle Bay to woodland walks, he found peace in nature and shared that joy with those around him. As editor of The Corkman newspaper, Brendan was a gifted storyteller with an insatiable curiosity and an extraordinary memory for details, whether historical events or the smallest of anecdotes. He brought stories to life, ensuring voices were heard and memories preserved, earning the admiration of friends, family, and colleagues.

Beyond his professional life, Brendan’s heart belonged to his family. A caring grandfather, he found joy in time spent with his grandchildren, creating treasured memories of warmth and laughter. Brendan’s life, though far too brief, was rich with meaning—shaped by the natural world, fueled by his thirst for knowledge, and anchored in love for his family. He is survived by his children, grandchildren, siblings, and many friends who mourn his loss and celebrate his legacy. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
