Aidan and I shared an origin in Rockbrook which triggered a friendship at DLS Churchtown. My mother Annie née Doyle was from Mount Venus. Rugby brought us closer together as did our both albeit very different but nonetheless distinct low key rebellious natures. We lost contact over the years but rare meetings were very enjoyable. A Rugby highlight, Aidan as captain and organiser engineered a very enjoyable victory in the end of season senior school Rugby 7’s when we beat Blackrock in the final. It must not be forgotten. At half time Aidan feared that we would be content with a first half victory and would run out of steam in the second half, but Aidan had a plan. He set us the target of each of us scoring in the second half. This turned out to be an effective strategy.
Aidan was exceptional at school and clearly carried that through his life.
My sympathies to all his family and friends.
