— Trevor Dunne
Sincere sympathy to Anna and the extended family on the death of Ailbe.
He was a keen sportsman (loved the hounds, hurling and horses) and was great sport. Even the legendary sportswriter, Con Houlihan, name-checked Ailbe , when he used a conversation they had, in his newspaper article, on at least one occasion.
Back in the 60s, Ailbe drove a mini, and I have wonderful memories of trips with him up and down to Emly, to race meetings in the Phoenix Park, greyhounds in Shelbourne and Harolds Cross and dances at various venues around the city.
Like many others, I am fortunate to have known Ailbe. May he rest in peace.
