My deepest sympathy to Aileen's family, friends and former colleagues at this sad time. Aileen was a kind caring and beautiful lady. She made a great contribution to the physiotherapy profession in Ireland. It was a pleasure to have known her. May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Aileen was the first person I met in Kings Inns in 1985 and we became and remained friends since then. She was a lady.

I offer my sincere sympathy to the Barrett family on the sad loss of Aileen. I was fortunate enough to have Aileen as my Head of Physiotherapy in Jervis Street Hospital. I was a new graduate, and she was nothing but patient, kind and was always there to encourage and push you. I remember her as having a great sense of humour and I look back on those days as being some of the happiest of my career. May she rest in peace.

My sisters Sheila,Joan and I, who for a long time were neighbours of the Barrett’s in Baymount Park, were so sad to hear of the death of Aileen. We were very touched that she was so kind and thoughtful to attend the funeral of our sister Eithne Loughrey in mid-November. Sincere condolences to Fiona and Cathy and all her family.

I had the honour of knowing Aileen in many guises, as a colleague in Beaumont Hospital when I joined as Head of Clinical Services from 2000 to 2008, Aileen was wonderful to work with and ran a forward looking department, which has produced many of the physiotherapy leading thinkers who have brought that" can do" attitude across the profession. She was generous and always up to working with you to solve a problem. She also had a great sense of humour - I can still see that twinkle in her eye.
When Aileen retired, she joined the Speech and Language Registration Board at CORU, as a lay member and brought wonderful knowledge, problem solving and experience as we prepared to open the first statutory register for speech and language therapists in 2014 and was also a good adviser as we progressed the work to regulate physiotherapists, when that register opened in 2016.
I also lived up the road from Aileen and we would catch up occasionally. It was during these chats, that I discovered she had been in school with my late Aunt Dymphna O Shea

I will miss Aileen's funeral so please accept my condolences to all her family. I knew her as a dynamic leader of the physiotherapy department in Beaumont Hospital and worked with her from 1992 until her retirement. She was a great leader who encouraged her charges to grow and develop independently and left a great legacy behind. At a personal level she was smart, witty and had a gentle sense of humor and a can do approach to work and life.
She was very helpful to me as a young consultant. I will miss her and am sorry I will miss her funeral. May she rest in peace

Not long ago, Aileen and I had coffee one morning in Upr Leeson St. She came by taxi, was in great form and we had a good chat. I remember with admiration her proficiency at Irish in class and knowledge of Irish poetry and her after school distinguished career. We sometimes used to wander after school to look at materials when these were on offer in the Grafton St shops. May she have light, happiness and peace. My deepest sympathy to you, her family..
