To Jennifer and family saddened to hear of Alans death. We both were in UMF when Alan joined and he was like a breath of fresh air. Through the years in Lombard he was always good humoured, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a number of tennis games and he had a great interest in sport. So very sorry to hear this sad news of Alan's passing. I have very fond memories of playing rugby and touring with him and also enjoying the discos in Old Wesley. A true gentlemen and always great company.
Jennifer, I don't think we have met but I was a good friend of Alan from Old Wesley. I was really sad to hear of his death. We played many a match together - I was scrum half and he was my 'flying' winger outside me. He was always cheerful and full of fun - a joy to know. There are not too many like 'Beatle' Byrne. The last time we met was at an Old Wesley lunch and although he was beginning to suffer from his illness you could still see the old Alan. Please accept our sincere condolences. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
