Jennifer, I don't think we have met but I was a good friend of Alan from Old Wesley. I was really sad to hear of his death. We played many a match together - I was scrum half and he was my 'flying' winger outside me. He was always cheerful and full of fun - a joy to know. There are not too many like 'Beatle' Byrne. The last time we met was at an Old Wesley lunch and although he was beginning to suffer from his illness you could still see the old Alan. Please accept our sincere condolences. He will be sadly missed by his family and many friends.
