Saddened and shaken to hear of the death of Alan. Alan was a very quiet man but a staunch trade unionist, with the Marine Port and General Workers Union and with SIPTU. He was a pillar of the executive committee of the Dublin Council of Trade Unions, never missing a meeting or an event. His image may be seen in many photographs of trade union parades and demonstrations over the years. His good humoured presence and support will be missed.

It was with deep sadness that we learnt of the very sad and unexpected passing of Alan. He was great company with a lovely warm personality, great humour and a big smile. A true gentleman and always held in such high regard in our community. Alan had only arrived into his new home at Woodstock lately and was so happy to have moved here. He settled in immediately and loved all his neighbours and his surroundings.
He will be deeply missed and remembered by all the Volunteers at Ranelagh Community Response, Ranelagh MoW and Beechwood MoW.
