As a former teacher of Aisling I wish to add my sincere condolences to Alan’s family. It turns out that my husband David O Connell and many of his previous colleagues/ friends in Motorola considered him to be a dear friend. So difficult to lose a family member at such a young age .

I knew Alan from our time in Motorola and then in Aspira, what a gentleman, always kind, and very funny too! Las time I met him was in UCC at my daughter's graduation, he was there for his niece's graduation, a prouder uncle I've never met! He leaves behind a great legacy of work, family and friendship. I was deeply saddened to hear of Alan’s passing this morning. Alan was my mentor when I joined Motorola from college, over 20 years on we still met intermittently for coffee in Monkstown (the good side of the river he claimed). I’ll miss his intelligence, his warmth and that infectious chuckle, a lovely guy. Sincere condolences to his family, rest in peace Alan.
