Condolences to Olive and family at this sad time. Albert was a true gentleman.
— Enda Cummins
Sincere sympathy to you Olive and your family on the sudden passing of Albert. As a gang member of WWG - aka Sitting Ball - he always brought a sense of levity to what was otherwise a very serious series of events. With his devoted seven wood he often astonished his rivals with a long range punt to a green or a long range putt on a manicured green. He will be sorely missed by the group and we know that he is is now probably togging out for what ever sporting events they have on the other side. RIP

What is Success?

To laugh often and much;

To win the respect of intelligent people
and the affection of children;

To earn the appreciation of honest critics
and endure the betrayal of false friends;

To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;

To leave the world a bit better, whether by
a healthy child, a garden patch
or a redeemed social condition;

To know even one life has breathed
easier because you have lived;

This is to have succeeded.
— Joe Murray

Words can't describe the impact of receiving that call. Father figure, friend, thought challenging. But the family he welcomed me into, brothers and sisters, Olive, all of whom welcomed me and not only tolerated me but helped me along in life to be the man I am. Irreplaceable. And no one mentioned that he liked Boobie Woogie piano and reckoned that Jools Holland was probably the least talented of those he listened to! Ask me sometime about his theoretical approach to grass cutting! Missing you already.
— Robert Moloney

Sincere sympathy to you,Olive and your family on this sad occasion. I was shocked and saddened by the news of Albert's sudden passing. I have so many happy memories, when I was privileged to be on the same tennis team and later to be his doubles partner in Cym club in Terenure many years ago. He encouraged me then and by his example on the court showed the spirit in which way our great game should be played. Albert was a great sportsman, a great character, a gentleman on and off the court. He will be sadly missed by all who were privileged to know him..Rest in peace now Al.

To Olive, Stephen, Conor, Suzanne and Deirdre. When my Dad told me of the death of Al, with deep sadness in his voice, so many memories of your Dad flashed into my head. Always the life and soul of the party from those days in Ballymoney, the Cheltenham stories, their trip to Australia and the more recent golf adventures, he will be sorely missed. A huge loss for all of you and for my Dad.

Hi Olive, Steve,Conor, Dee & Sue,

Thinking of you all .
BIG HUGS from us both.
See you soon.
— Catriona Belton and Mike
I was so saddened to hear Albert was gone.
No more twinkly-eyed "what divilment will we get up to next?" looks.

No more stuuningly fast, incisive, wit. (it could take a few seconds for my little brain to catch up with him!!!!)
Memories of stories, as told by him:
a tale about drumming along on the table to Duke Elling/Count Basie records when supposedly studying for college. Then deciding the music might be enhanced if he taped himself drumming along on the table !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hadn't seen Albert for a few years, but have a wardrobe full of happy memories of him , going right back to when I was a kid in the late 50's.
His going is our loss, but I'd say there's a lot more craic going on in heaven now he's arrived!!
Cheers Al,
Your cuz Micheal

So enjoyed the times I played on the same league squash team as Albert, he was such a graceful player with a lovely touch. I particularly remember the time I played tennis with Albert on the grass courts of Claremont RU LTC, and I was given a lesson on how to play on a grass court by the Master. Such a gentleman, may Albert RIP
