We have been friends with Alex for 30 years, since childhood. We've spent hours chatting on the phone, discussing everything in the world and supporting each other in tough times.
And so it was till the very end.
For me you will always be a little blondy girl, very strong and very cheerful, very kind and very supportive.
Sashulya, I will miss you so much!

So sorry to hear this news, sincere condolences to Paul and all of Alex’s family. Shocked and devastated at the loss of a lovely soul xx
I was lucky enough to be in Thailand when Paul and Alex met at a party on a Phuket beach. The next day we jammed (badly) to the Beatles song: "I've Just Seen a Face (I can't forget)". The choice of that song with lyrics about being smitten at first sight was no coincidence; it was a prelude to the years Alex and Paul would spend together.
Despite knowing Alex when we all lived in Thailand, it was a short weekend when I visited Glendalough last year when I was truly blown away by her positivity, courage and smiles in the face of the inconceivable battle with her illness.
And through all this, she was supported by the unwavering love of Paul, a beacon of positivity whose energy and unique humour were a constant source of light. Their journey together has been both deeply moving and incredibly inspiring to me.
Paul. Alexandra was an extraordinary person and we will miss her. As Paul McCartney wrote, "Other girls were never quite like this".
All my love,
Steve

Hearing of the passing of Alex is such sad news. What a truly lovely human being. Our family got to know Alex and Paul over the last number of years when our respective Golden Retrievers Georgie and Indi used to meet on the greens’ in Park Drive. We minded each others dogs when we were away and would have great chats while our dogs entertained each other.
When Leah’s daughter Maia was born a year ago, Alex was very good at taking her Goldie “Luna “to give Leah a break. With endless patience she turned an energetic puppy into an adorable dog, like Georgie.
Alex was kind and sensitive and was a very interesting person to listen to. Her illness was lurking about and must have been making day to day living very challenging, but being in her company, she never let on and was more interested in our wellbeing rather than her own. Such a gentle soul, we will never forget Alex.
May she rest in peace.
