My sympathy to the O'Leary family on the death of Fr. Sean. I knew him in Carlow Cathedral parish during my school days. I remember him as a thoughtful, generous man with an amazing written signature, as Gaeilge. He had great skill with his hands, particularly working with wood. He was involved in so much - scouts, altar boys, swimming pool, Workmans Club, St. Dumpna's Hospital - and so much more. He oversaw the construction of Askea church and also managed to get the Cathedral joybells ringing again, for a while. He was never one for clerical lace or flounces, but enjoyed wearing the enormously wide sets of simple vestments he bought in Spain. Sometimes a man of few words, but usually ready for a laugh.
Rest in Peace, Fr Sean.

Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Father O' Leary. I have nothing but great memories of him since I first knew him way back on the Dublin Road and then through our association with the Boy Scouts. We had great times with him, picking fruit in Clonroche , building the Scouts Den from telegraph poles (which is still there to the good 60 years later), collecting scrap metal to raise the funds, annual camps etc. He did so much for the people of Carlow, particularly the youth, and he will never be forgotten. He was truly a great man, a great friend and a great priest.

May Father Jack now rest in heavenly peace.
