I knew Andrew from the time many years ago, when I was fortunate to move in next door to him, and where I was up to recently when the ambulance brought him to the hospice.
I was lucky to have had a great relationship with Andrew. He was always on for a chat. More and more he made me feel welcome and accepted in Harbourne.
Andrew will be greatly missed by all of us in the community.

My friendship with Andrew goes back to our shared Cambridge days in the 1970s. He was everything that the tributes here say - Donal Gordon's 'a quietly remarkable man' says so much in a few words. Great integrity, a great sense of humour, great loyalty to his friends, great resilience and dignity in hard times. We were last in touch in November (appropriately, on St Andrew's Day) and I deeply regret not having been able to get to see him since. I read the notice of his death with deep dismay, even though I knew he was very ill. Andrew, go now without fear to the Father's house. My sincere sympathies to all the family.
— Bruce Bradley SJ, Milltown Park
We have so many wonderful memories of Andy. He fought bravely. He finished the race. May he live forever in the arms of The Great One.

May Andrew rest in peace. Andrew welcomed me to Tubbermore rd when i moved in 2019. During the pandemic our friendship blossomed and I loved visiting him or doing his shopping which in return I got to hear of amazing stories he had to tell. He was so thoughtful - even making me his favourite caramel treat on my birthday. Il always cherish our conversations and felt lucky to have met him in the last 2 years. Sincere sympathy to Tim and all the Furlong family on the passing of Andrew

Very sad. The way he dealt with this degenerative condition was awe inspiring, as he played golf while attached to his oxygen tank. In October he sank a difficult chip on the 8th hole in Carrickmines. He could not walk to the hole and the ball had to retrieved and put on the golf tee on the 9th. Glad to have had so many sporting chats with Andrew over the last 10 years. We visited Andrew in Dalkey before Christmas, having been aked to drop in and it really was his way of saying goodbye.
— Michael and Jennifer Halliday
Andrew will be sadly missed by all who knew him. His interest in others, his kindness, his organisational skills, his sporting prowess, his sense of justice, his love of family and many more attributes have already been mentioned. Throughout his struggle with his debilitating illness he didn’t lose his sense of humour and I was lucky enough to experience it as recently as last Tuesday in the hospice. At this very sad time our thoughts are with his much loved family, especially those who live so far away.
— Jean & David ODriscoll
