Words may not suffice to express the heartfelt sorrow that we feel for the McMillan family for your dear Katie’s final flight to paradise. We, the de Farcy family in France, had the privilege of meeting Ann 40 years ago when she sent her cherished daughter Susan to PARIS to help care for our 2 little girls; she since has remained a soul mate of all the family. Thus our relationship with Ann continued. We remember her as such a beautiful lady, who spoke with such eloquence be it in French or English, her sense of humour and her laughter. She was a woman of distinguished class, a true lady. It was an honor to have known Ann. We are very happy to have read her books which we keep preciously. May she continue to keep a watchful eye on all her family and those who were privileged to have known her.
Kay, Jacques, Emilia, Olivia de Farcy.

Dear Sue & family, and the McMillan family

I was saddened to hear about the death of your darling Mum. I had the pleasure of meeting Ann a number of times at Rathasker house. In her life, she was a very loving, independent and vivacious woman. One of the very first air hostesses for Aer lingus, an accomplished writer, & voracious reader, wife to Matthew, mother to eight children, and many more grandchildren. A life lived to the fulllest. May Ann rest in peace, eternally.

I am very deeply saddened to know of the passing of my beloved grandmother Ann. We shared many interests and similarities. She remains a very big inspiration to me. I know that she would be comforted by the poems and art that I picked out for her. I am endlessly proud of my grandmother, and I have such fond memories of our last conversation of Chemistry and Russian, both of which I enjoy very much. I will always remember her kindest voice, style, pride, bravery and eloquence. I remember writing to her in French; I was so impressed by her passion to write and to read literature so beautifully for the duration of her life. My grandmother is the reason why I am blessed to have to such a spiritual mother today.
Granny, I love you always and you are always in my heart and prayers. You are an inspiration to so many, not just to family. You are an angel. Please rest peacefully in the arms of God and love.
Love your Granddaughter Holly xx

This is such sudden and heart-breaking news.

Although this now feels like an overwhelming tragedy to all of us, we must now also feel grateful that the life of my grandmother has been vibrant, long and successful.

I regret that the pandemic has meant that I was unable to see her in her last few months, but I do have very fond memories of our many recent encounters in the apartment where we would sit, share stories and drink tea.

As I sit this evening alone in an empty Spanish church, I feel a sense of gratitude for having had my grandmother in my life. Through her style and grace, she taught me to take risks, to be adventurous, to be unapologetic and confident.

She has been an influence on all of our lives and I feel like a part of her soul lives on in all of us that remain.

With this in mind, we can now come together with a renewed sense of camaraderie and love for one another to keep her soul alive.

Patrick ❤️
