Our deepest sympathies to the Conlon & McKane families on the death of Ann. We were very saddened when we heard the news. We were first acquainted with her through my Aunt, Dawn Stewart who along with her mother met the Conlon’s at their thatched cottage on their first trip to Ireland & developed a warm
friendship over the years. On one of her return trips I was fortunate enough to accompany her & had my first meeting with them. From that time we returned many times & were always treated to such warm welcomes & wonderful lunches that Ann so beautifully prepared. On one occasion, our son did a watercolor sketch of the thatched cottage which he gave to them. The next time we visited, they had framed it & hung it on their wall. I’ll always remember Ann’s wonderful smile & how everything was “just lovely”. I can still picture her laughing & taking pictures when Tom & Pat took us (& other members of our family who were there with us) out back to show us how to milk their cow. One year Ann invited us all to her home for an afternoon tea & met John who was such a nice man. We had such an enjoyable day. Getting to know the Conlon’s & spending many visits with them has given us some of our most precious memories. We kept in touch a couple of times a year through all these years. I was just ready to send Ann an Easter card & it’s sad that I can’t do that now. Ann was a very special person who will be greatly missed. Rest In Peace, Ann.

Our sincere sympathies to the Conlon and McKane families at Ann’s passing. We had the privilege of visiting her and her brothers Pat and Tom a few times at the Thatch. They all were so friendly and generous. The visits all started through our aunt, Dawn Stewart. Ann was such a warm, kind person. We enjoyed our correspondence with her over the years. May she Rest In Peace!
As I read through all the wonderful notes about Ann, it is plain to see that I am not the only one who was touched by her kindness, modesty and generosity. Although I did not know Ann well, she and her brothers, Tom and Pat, made my dad and I feel right at home during our first visit to Ireland and the thatched cottage. Ann cooked up the finest feast for us all using the peat burning stove and it is the fondest memory I have of our trip. I was lucky enough to get back to Ireland and visit with her briefly again shortly after my dad passed, and once again she went out of her way to make me feel welcome at the thatched cottage. She was an amazing woman and I wish I had the opportunity to know her better. My deepest sympathies go out to all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear of the passing of Ann. Ann was such a lovely lady, so welcoming into her home, loved a chat & nobody left Ann's home before having a cup of tea with her, she was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by us all. Ann will be reunited now with her husband Johnnie, brothers Tom & Pat and all her family who have predeceased her. Deepest sympathy to her extended family. May Ann's beautiful & gentle soul rest in peace.
Sincere condolences to the McKane family on the death of Nan. I have a lifetime of memories shared in the thatched homestead in Siogue with her deceased brothers Pat and Tom. I found every visit enriching with genuine friendship that touched many especially the bus loads of tourists who were accommodated with photos of the legendary thatched home. Rest in peace Nan and thanks for the memories.
