Sending my deepest sympathies to Roland, Rebecca, Peter and all of Annette’s family. I had the privilege of being taught by Annette at St. Matthew's in the 1980's. Her teaching extended far beyond the curriculum, and she brought such a diversity of education to all of the pupils in her care at St. Matthew's, which included giving us an awareness and insight into social, historical, political, community and environmental issues in an open and creative environment. Annette was such an inspiring woman, her dedication as a teacher and principal really informed generations of pupils in a real and meaningful way, who fondly remember their school years and have many happy memories to look back on. One of my memories was our class Rainforest Project. We learned about the different habitat, the plants and wildlife, the Amazon, South American tribes living in the rainforest, the environmental impact of logging and deforestation, we wrote to politicians urging change, we created artworks, and best of all - we collectively made a rainforest cake full of tropical fruits to culminate the project! May she rest in peace, and may your family find solace and support through these difficult times from the many, many tributes that will be paid in Annette's honour, and knowing that there is collective loss felt across so many communities, and real recognition and appreciation for everything that she did.
