To Majella and family - so very shocked and saddened to hear of Anthony’s so very sudden passing. I was in college with him and considered him a true friend . I am so grateful we all managed to catch up this year after so long, albeit virtually, but I will always treasure having known him. His pride in his family was huge . Take good care of yourselves ,

Last Thursday we said goodbye to a fine friend.

Jock (as we knew him) shared his enthusiasm for life with us for over 30 years, and we feel blessed for having known him.

He was one of those very special people who could always find a reason to be happy. His love of people, books, cooking, music, theatre, the outdoors, and a myriad other things, was infectious.

His enquiring mind forever pondering something that had caught his attention. ‘Have you heard that Nanci Griffith lyric’ he would say. ‘Made this love a teardrop waiting to fall…now what do you make of that?’.

His first love, an orange MGB sportscar, drove the length and breadth of London back in the day as we travelled to pubs, restaurants, parties, concerts, antique fairs, book fairs, and the Holyhead ferry for the annual excursion home at Christmas. Good times!

All those years of merriment, however, were as nothing compared to the joy he found when he met Majella, and they set about building a home together for themselves and their three beautiful children.

Majella, Catherine, Neil, and Hugh… Oh how he loved you… The pride in his eyes when he spoke about you… You were his world. It has been our privilege to know you and have you in our world too. Our heartfelt condolences to you, his beloved mom and sister, and his numerous friends and acquaintances. May our old pal rest in peace, and may the joy he shared with us all help you through the difficult days ahead.

All our love

I watched Anthony's funeral mass online and it was so moving, it there was ever a perfect service - he had it today.
I met Anthony when our book club started over seven years ago and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to get to know this wonderful man. Anthony was the life and soul of our gatherings, he couldn’t wait to give his synopsis of the book and I always waited for his witty response when he found out that I hadn’t read it for yet another month. However it was when he talked about his wife Majella and children Catherine, Neil and Hugh that his face would light up, he was the proudest husband and father I have ever met and his unconditional love for them was evident to all who knew him.
I was due to host the next Bookclub then Covid hit but when it is safe again I will host the next one - as a tribute to Anthony and we will ask you his family too so we can all share in the amazing memories we have of him.
To his wife Majella, his children Catherine, Neil & Hugh, his mother Bridie, sister Siobhan - to all his family and friends I offer my deepest sympathies.
Fly high Anthony
