Condolences to Austin's family and friends at this sad time. Got to know Austin over the years through the golfing circles and while talking one day I discovered that he knew and was friendly with my late dad as well. — Eamonn King Ex Eircom, Clifden
Sincere sympathy to all the Garvin family. I had the pleasure of working with Austin in Eircom where his sincerity was so comforting to any young person starting their career. We also were adversaries in football as managers over the minor teams of Claremorris and Mitchels, particularly the '82 county semifinal which Mitchels pipped them even only scoring a single point in the first half. Being a true gentleman he was so happy for us when we went on to win the county title. May his gentle soul rest in peace. Gerard Murphy Eircom and Castlebar
