I wanted to share my deepest condolences with Ryan family hearing that Barry passed away. I was working with Barry on a number of occasions and many times in person since 2007. I’ve learned a lot from him, especially how to stay calm when he were preparing for or hosting regulatory inspections. Barry was kind and caring, and has never left anyone without help. Always very professional at work and a great companion after work when we had some time to plug off and have some beers (especially in Dublin).

Barry will stay in my memories. Once again my deepest condolences.
— Marek Pedzinski, IQVIA

— Richard and bridget hayes gardenfield Newcastle west,
Barry was one of the finest QA members I have had the opportunity of working with on several audits and inspections. I can’t convey enough how much he was respected and valued for the knowledge and intelligence he brought on the table. He was very calm and composed and would talk only when it was required. His passion for travel was inspiring. You will be missed Barry... RIP.
— Aparna Salunkhe, IQVIA India
Sincere sympathy to all Barry's Family and his relations. May he rest in peace.
— Charlie & Pam Wallace Richmond, Templemore, Co Tipperary
My heart goes out to Barry's family and friends at this saddest of times. I was honoured to work with him over the last ten years. He was extremely knowledgeable but was never egotistical.
He had such a dry sense of humour even after his diagnosis. I called him a few weeks after his surgery and he told me he was on a cycle ride around London. When I questioned the wisdom of this given his recent surgery, he replied. "Don't worry, I'm wearing a helmet!".
He was the kindest and gentlest of souls and we are all blessed to have had him in our lives for this too short time.
Sincere condolences, Helen Murphy, IQVIA Reading Office.
— Helen Murphy

It is impossible to capture the essence of Barry in a few words. He has left us far too young but he achieved and contributed far more in his life than most people do in twice the number of years. Ever the professional, he remained calm whatever the circumstances. Never one to raise his voice, everyone knew that his contributions would always be considered, thoughtful – and always worth listening to. He has left a legacy that will have an impact for many years to come.

The reflections expressed by colleagues have captured so many very true sentiments. Barry was valued and appreciated by all of us who were fortunate enough to share his working life.

But more than that, he was a kind and caring individual and days spent with Barry were always going to be good days. For over 20 years I was privileged to call him a friend as well as a colleague. Barry really did make a difference both as a person and professionally. I sincerely hope that knowing the high esteem in which Barry was held will bring some comfort to his extended family at this time and in the months and years ahead. My thoughts are with you. He will be sorely missed by so many, forever.
— Gwynneth Weir Quintiles, retired
I was very shocked and extremely sad to hear about Barry. I worked with him for over 20 years. He was a lovely guy. Always very calm, collected and had amazing knowledge. We loved to see him when he came "home" to Dublin over the years to attend audits. Always great for a chat. Can't believe we won't hear his voice on calls or see him again in Dublin. Condolences to his family. I hope you can take some comfort in knowing how many lives he has influenced in his time working at Quintiles/IQVIA, in Dublin, the UK and many other countries across the globe. Rest in peace Barry. You will be missed.
— Jillian Kennedy IQVIA Dublin

— Neil Maxwell & Family
Breda, Seamus, Brendan, Barbara and Deirdre, so sorry to hear of Barry’s health struggles this past year and now his passing, it has been a hard time for you. It’s amazing to see here how many people across the world were touched by Barry and how much they appreciated the same calm, quietly intelligent, friendly and smiling personality that I remember from when we were growing up. If any of us leave half as much of a mark on others as Barry did in his short time we will indeed have lived well. Heartfelt condolences, Feilim & Alison.
— Feilim Maxwell, USA
To Barry’s entire family, our collective IQVIA hearts go out to you. So many of us were truly blessed with the chance to work closely with such a special person. As others have said, Barry was a kind and patient person who always made the time to help others. For me personally, Barry was one of my closest work friends. We spent hours and hours over our 18 years together solving the problems of IQVIA and the world. We were each others’ confidantes. I hope that you are feeling the love and support of so many of us across the world. We are grieving right along side you and keeping you in our thoughts and prayers. Rest in peace, my dear friend.

I had the good fortune of working with Barry for several years at IQVIA. His determination, positivity and brilliance left me in awe, particularly during these past few months. I knew Barry was well loved and respected, but I never fully appreciated until now the breadth of his influence. From Ireland to the UK, from India to South Africa, from Japan to New Zealand, to Europe and the US… Barry impacted so many people on a global scale. His calm demeanor, logical guidance and dedication to his craft was second to none. I am proud to have worked beside him, as so many of us are… he will be remembered and cherished by the IQVIA community. Sending love and light to Mr & Mrs Ryan and the entire Ryan family. You have so much to be proud of in your son.
— Raina Olexa, IQVIA
To the Ryan’s, my earliest friends and neighbours, my deepest sympathy to you all.

I was only fortunate enough to know Barry as a young boy, but I remember well his soft spoken, good hearted and curious nature. He obviously carried these tremendous qualities with him throughout his life, as he clearly had a profoundly positive impact on everyone that he encountered on his life’s journey. My thoughts are with you all at his sad passing.
