I was shocked when I received the news of Bernie’s death. As a former Principal of Mount Temple I can confirm that the tributes being paid to her by the staff who worked with her, and the students who were in her classes, have captured the essence of her as a caring, inspiring teacher and a delightful person.

My sincere condolences on the passing of Bernie. Ms Roche was a wonderful teacher. I was fortunate enough to have been part of a really creative Irish language film spearheaded by Ms Roche which ultimately led to a fun trip to a students film festival in Treviso in 2000. Memories that will last a lifetime and would not have been possible without the creativity, passion and drive of Ms Roche. May she rest in eternal peace.

The staff past and present of SPS.

Ms. Roche, as she was known to me, taught me both Irish and English during my time in Mount Temple. I remember her as being funny, light hearted passionate about Irish and genuinely caring about her pupils. I was truly saddened to hear about her passing, such a huge loss.

My sincere condolences to all of Bernie’s family. I was lucky enough to be a student of Bernie’s about a decade ago (Ms Roche, as she was to me), she had a great sense of humour and a zest for life and learning that was contagious. I fondly remember dancing with her on a school trip to a Gaeltacht, and even diving off a pier with her, she had a young and lively spirit. What a loss. I’ll never forget her. May she rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to Bernie's family. She was a lovely colleague in Mount Temple and always had a warm, friendly greeting when we met around the school.

I was devastated to learn of the death of Bernie. I have such fond memories of being classmates in FCJ, Bunclody, with her and later as students in Dublin.
Unfortunately, I was out of the country and unable to attend the funeral but I send my love, sympathy and condolences to Paul, Bernie’s children, Annmarie, and the extended Roche family. May Bernie rest in peace.

She was an inspiring teacher who instilled a love of learning in her students, an amazing colleague and a loyal and devoted friend who impacted positively on so many people.She was immensely proud of her family and always spoke so lovingly about each one of them.We will never forget Bernie and she will remain in our hearts forever.

To Paul and family, I have just watched the Funeral on the Live Stream as I was unable to attend due to work commitments. I just wish to offer my heartfelt apologies for your loss.
