Bernadette McIntyre

I'm very sorry to hear of Bernadette's passing. My condolences to all her family. We were next door neighbours when we both lived in Castlecomer. Bernadette wrote beautiful poems about both my girls and was a great help with Irish homework! She was a talented and inspiring woman, may she rest in peace. Kellie, Jude, Stevie and JorgieGirl.

I was so sorry to hear of Bernadette's passing. I always enjoyed bumping into her in Blackpool or different gigs in the city. She wrote a beautiful poem for me when my father passed after my daughter was born. She was a very talented woman. Xx

Condolences to Cyril and all who mourn the passing of Bernadette. We started teaching in Slieverue Vocational School on the same day back in September 1978 and soldiered together for many years. May Bernadette rest in peace.

Very sorry indeed to hear this news. Bernadette taught me Irish and French in Slieverue Vocational School in County Kilkenny in the 1980s where we all knew her as Miss Fitzgerald and her enthusiasm for both subjects (as well as silence in her classroom!) were memorable. Her great love of Irish in particular was instrumental in winning First Prize for Essay Writing at Senior Level at Slógadh Náisiúnta in 1988 for the school to her great pride and delight.

I got to know Bernadette at South Pres Secondary School .We were in the same class for 5 years where Bernadette was was an exemplary pupil. Our paths didn't cross until some years ago at the Past Pupils lunch.It was great to connect with her and to hear how interesting her life was. May she reap the reward of a life lived to the full.

I used to meet Bernadette at the Oireachtas and we'd have great chats. I loved her translations of the French thrillers. She was really gifted. We will all miss her so much.
