I was so sorry to hear of Bernard's passing. He was a shining light in my creative writing class in Deansgrange Library, gracious, kind, a gentleman, funny, but most of all, a wonderful writer and storyteller. It was a joy to have him in our group, his great big booming voice lit up the room. His love for Mayo was evident, as was his love for family, grandchildren and the adventures he enjoyed with his daughter in the US from where he brought me a lovely writing journal one time. I hope, when the family has time, that they will preserve his stories in some way and share with the wider world. Rest in peace, Bernard.
