Condolences to all of you on Bernie’s passing . I worked with Bernie in ED in the Mater . She was such a kind and caring and helpful person , she had a word for everyone . I will miss her smile and the chats .

Mam always says it has been absolute pleasure known bernie.

April 3, 2021,
I returned to Chicago March 10, 2020 after a winter in Dublin. One of those days, I met Bernie as we turned into no’s 21 & 23 Rathmore, respectively. We chatted only for a moment. Had I had known that would be the last time I would speak to her, I would have dallied much longer. The news of her death came as a shock, as I was unaware of her illness.
Siobhan, P.J. Martin, do you remember the wooden model competition that Barry (next door) organised for you all, plus Terence & Brendan (my nephews) from Detroit who were there. (mid ’70’s ? ) I still have a photo of you all that sunny day !
My sincere sympathies to Siobhan, P.J. & Martin. & all the wider Carpenter family.

Deepest sympathy to Bernie’s family, friends and colleagues on her untimely death. I had the wonderful privilege of working with Bernie in the Mater ED. Bernie had the most infectious laugh and a smile that would light up any room. She always was lighting a candle and saying a prayer for all her colleagues. She was so warm and generous with her time, her knowledge her musical talents. An incredible nurse and human being. She will be so missed by everyone. May she rest in peace.

To have worked with Bernie for 17 years was a privilege. Everyone rightly talks of her smile but I remember her laugh. Bernie was just great, such a kind, caring and fun person. Bernie will be sorely missed. Condolences to you Siobhán, PJ and Martin. Words fail me at this time as you put Bernie to rest along side her mammy, daddy and little sis.

Bernie was an exceptional person, a loving, beacon of light to all who knew her. She will be sorely missed. I met Bernie a number of times through a nurse friend of mine. She truly was one of life’s beautiful people, inside & out. She was a ray of sunshine, with such love for others.
