I was so sorry to hear of dear Betty's death and I am very sorry that I was unable to attend the celebration of her long life. She was a very special friend to my late mother Muriel. They made many visits together to the National Concert Hall and loved the Friday night concerts with the NSO.
Betty also visited our holiday home at the Hook in Wexford which I think she thoroughly enjoyed.
Betty was a splendid conversationalist and over the years she and my mother regaled each other with great stories from their experiences of their long and active lives.
Betty's pre Christmas drinks party was a special part of the festive season's calendar. She will be greatly missed by all her many friends and family.

I learnt with sadness yesterday when reading the Irish Times of Betty's passing . We met in 2005 as appointed Executors to an eminent founder of the DGOS. Our task took over 12 years to complete and in the many hours spent in no.27 I was always impressed by her pleasant manner and grasp of detail. My sincere condolences to the Murphy family and if any member wished I can be reached on 086-2567109.

Living as I do in Zambia, I did not get to see my first cousin Betty Searson very often. However I too retain warm memories of her vitality and love for life. She was a wonderful ambassador for the Royal Dublin Society and for Ireland. May the Risen Jesus now lead her into the fullness of God.
