So sorry to hear of Bill’s death. Although I’m sure it was a happy release for all in the end .He fought a great fight.
On the golf course he was a pretty good fighter too. One incident I do remember though was playing the 17th in Portmarnock links when he was level par and had to play out of the bunker short of the green . After 7or 8 attempts at going foward he chipped out backwards.
I’m sure the ladies of Sutton GC will have a quiet giggle at this story.
The BMW I bought off Bill lasted almost as long as himself.
My sincere condolences to Anne and all the family.
May he Rest In Peace.

It is with sadness that I have just learnt of Bill’s passing. Can I extend to Anne and all the family my sincere condolences on your loss.
As a past pupil of MUNGRET College I can remember vividly playing the odd time with Bill in the Union of Irish schools foursomes competition which we won on a number of occasions thanks mainly to Bill’s contribution.
As you might know Bill’s major fear were bunkers and when it came to your shot he would shout over” anywhere but sand”
A gentle giant and loyal supporter of our Union and very popular with his colleagues
We will miss him
— Karl Roche
Many happy memories of Bill. Sincere sympathy to Ann and extended family.
May Bill now rest in peace
