To the immediate, extended Fenton and Quirke families, Br Ben’s Presentation Confreres, his past pupils and his many, many friends, my sincerest and heartfelt condolences on the loss of Uncle John and our dear Br Ben.
Br Ben has been part of my life for over twenty years from when I first met him. We have corresponded regularly keeping ourselves updated and well informed of our respective families and our various escapades. His hearty laugh and his presence lit up any gathering or room and his absence will be profoundly felt particularly in Maiville.
Many were the numerous and very humorous jokes and poems I received in the post along with pieces on Edmund Rice and other religious iconry. He always kept me more than well entertained.
I will have a large void to fill and go through much less notepads and ink for sure. I will inevitably miss my dear friend as so many others will also attest too. May Br Ben truly have a well earned rest now, although, I imagine he will undertake much exploration and many catch ups above first.
Rest in Peace Br Ben. Sincerely and with lots of love as always, your friend, Theresa x

It was with great sadness that I heard of the death of Br. Ben and deeply regret not being able to attend his Requiem Mass as I am out of the country at present. I first met Br. Ben at Easter 1980 when my friend, Regina and I travelled to Poland on the same trip as Br. Ben. He was very kind to us then and we remained great friends throughout the years. Our last meeting with him was in early summer '23 when we spent a wonderful afternoon in his company, catching up on old times. Br. Ben also gave us a tour of Maiville, a place that was very dear to him.
I wish to extend my sincere sympathy to Br. Ben's nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Family meant a lot to Br. Ben and he always appreciated family get-togethers. He was particularly thankful for your help when he compiled his memoirs of a very full and eventful life. My sympathy also to the Presentation brothers in Maiville and in the wider Presentation Community. Ní bheidh a leithéid ann arís. Suaimhneas síoraí dá anam dílis.
— Anne Kane (nee Cronin)
