BR. JOHN DONATUS BRAZIL

My deepest sympathy to the Brazil family and the Presentation Brothers, I was so sorry to hear that John had died, may his gentle soul rest in peace. I was blessed to be in Nagle Rice Community with John and I will always treasure the memories of the times we worked together in Nagle/Rice initiatives. I would like to share this little poem I wrote for John on 15th February 2000. He loved snowdrops and he was certainly a messenger of hope to so many.

"Here they are, little heralds of Spring
capturing hearts with the surprise of appearance,
little heads bowed gently,
fragile stems offer no resistance,
messengers of hope,
humble unassuming,
thriving in the challenge of Winter earth.
Years merge as we gaze in awe.
Oh! mystery of simplicity
drawing us to the Source."

My deepest sympathies to the Brazil family and the Presentation Brothers on the passing of Brother John Donatus. I will treasure our exchanges in our shared interest in researching our family tree. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Bro. Donatus succeeded Bro. Marcus, also a Presentation brother from Ireland as Principal of the St. Mary's College which was the first and for many years, the only secondary school on the island of St. Lucia.
He was gentle yet very influential and made an indelible mark on the consciousness of the many students who walked the Samarian walls during his tenure.

My deepest condolences to the Brazil family and the Presentation Brothers on the passing of Brother Donatus. May he now enjoy the rewards of his life of service to so many people. It was truly a privilege to have known such a kind and genuine person.

Brother DONATUS was a gentle guiding light to many of us at St Mary’s College in Saint Lucia in the Caribbean.
He cultivated in us a sense of responsibility and inspired us by his compassionate leadership of our school. Thank you Bro Donatus for all that you have done for us. Deepest sympathies to his entire family
