— Avril Condell
Eileen, Maura, Enda, and extended family members my deepest sympathies to you on Brendan’s passing. He was a genuine educator and was always open to new ideas. He truly made a difference to many lives in the Irish educational sector as a teacher, as a modest, respectful, supportive inspector, and later as an author and publisher. He was a tower of strength in the early days of the Reading Association of Ireland, serving as its President, liaising with Department of Education as the RAI grew and quietly taking the lead in organizing many aspects of the successful 1982 Dublin World Reading Congress. I will miss his reviews of the Irish educational scene during our annual get togethers. I hope that your memories of his well lived life will in some small way help ease your sense of loss and bring you some comfort.

I am sad to learn of the death of Brendan Molloy, scholar and talented man of many parts. Sincere sympathy to Eileem and their family. Paddy, my lately deceased husband and I were privileged to welcome him as our Inspector-of-Schools. He came, not to reprove but to facilitate and enhance the workload of those of us teachers contending with the management and education of a group of multiple classes entrusted to our skills and abilities. It was a pleasure to greet him as he courteously entered the classroom. Fear uasal i gcónaí den scoth is aoirde é, an cigire, Breandán Ó Maoildia. Ghnóthaigh sé meas agus ómós na hEaladhna Múinteóireachta. Mar mhúinteóir, mar cheóltóir, mar chigire agus mar scríobhnóir, choimeád sé feith an léinn beo don aos óg de réir a chroidhe féin. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam 'sna Flaithis go h-árd.
