Sincere sympathy to the extended Callaghan family on Brendan’s death. I was privileged to work with Brendan after he joined the Department of Justice and was engaged in the efforts that eventually bore fruit in the Good Friday Agreement whose 25th anniversary is now approaching. He was one of the public servants whose hard work and dedication in those years helped make that possible. More than that he was always a pleasure to work with and a colleague whose wit and sense of fun never deserted him. May he rest in peace.

I am greatly saddened on hearing of the death of Brendan. We first worked together in the Anglo Irish Secretariat in Northern Ireland, and later when he migrated to the Department of Justice from the Department of Foreign Affairs. He was a true gentleman, always happy to engage, and give the benefit of his wide knowledge and sound advice.

My deepest condolences on the passing of Brendan. I was totally shocked to hear this sad and unexpected news. I got to know Brendan over the past few years as a neighbour here in Alverno in Clontarf. Brendan struck me as one of life's true gentlemen. I always enjoyed bumping in to him and having a chat about the weather and whatever while standing in our apartment complex car park.

I am very sorry to hear of the sad passing of Brendan, RIP. I worked with Brendan in the Department of Justice and he was a gentleman in all my dealings with him. Sincere condolences to his family.
