Brendan Lydon

We were deeply saddened to learn of Brendan's passing. Brendan worked with our school during his time with NBSS and had a hugely positive impact on our school community. Our thoughts and prayers are with Brendan's family and friends at this difficult time. May he Rest In Peace.

Mr Lydon thought me maths in St Anne's Tipperary Town. He was a newly qualified teacher at the time. Drove a BMW, smelt of aftershave and always had a twinkle in his eye. He was a real heart throb to us in this all girls school. We tested his patience many times! He was one of the best teachers I've ever had. His way of teaching was second to none. He was patient and kind. My sincere condolences to his wife, 2 boys and his extended family. I have very fond memories of a very special teacher. RIP

I was so very sorry to hear of Brendan’s passing. I met Brendan when studying Guidance. He was an absolutely lovely man and my thoughts are with his beloved family and all of his loved ones. May he rest in peace.

I have very fond memories of Brendan he was very charismatic while at the same time very professional. I can only imagine the huge loss that is felt by his family but know that he touched so many people's lives and will live on in our memories

I was shocked and saddened in hearing of Brendan's passing a couple of hours ago. Brendan was my NBSS advisor as a Behaviour for Learning Teacher in Moyne College, Ballina. We shared some great laughs and deep discussions when he visited. He provided wise counsel and loyal support through some difficult moments in my career. May he rest in peace.

I met Brendan regularly, through my work with NCSE, when he was Principal in The Mercy. He was so welcoming, incredibly engaging, interesting and interested. A consummate professional, always student centred, solutions focussed and such a very decent, kind and lovely person to chat with.

I had Mr Lydon as my maths teacher in St Annes Secondary School, Tipperary town . He was an excellent maths teacher and a true gentleman . My sincere sympathies to My Lydon ‘s wife, sons and family.

I had the privilege of Mr. Lydon teaching me in St. Anne’s in Tipperary Town. Mr. Lydon was only newly qualified and my gosh he made a big impression on us being an all girls school. Have very fond memories of his time with us. Many of us still talk about him how we thought he was the coolest teacher ever. May he rest in peace x

Without realising it, Brendan was destined to advise from an early age as his Junior Cert class participated over 3 years in a History Action Research Project (H.A.R.P.) which led to the new Junior Certificate History Syllabus and contributed to shaping the structure of the now History Leaving Certificate Examination. In subsequent years I visited him at his places of work, sometimes for a chat, occasionally for advice, always experiencing the "welcoming spirit" and we worked together more recently during secondment. He was a lovely fellow with whom I am proud to have been associated. Sincere sympathy to Anne Marie, Ronan, Colin, John and Geraldine. Rest in Peace, Brendan.
