Deepest sympathy to Audrey and the Carr and Forde families on the passing of Bridie, my wonderful neighbour and friend. I will miss her smile, her gentle wit, kindness, and sunny nature. She arrived on our doorstep with a plant the day we moved here and we became firm friends. You could entrust her with your secrets, get wonderful advice, and always know that she was on your side. She taught me how to light fires that didn’t fill the house with smoke, make delicious plum puddings and Christmas cakes and recognise chicken pox when I thought my daughter had hives! Bridie saved the day when she needed emergency help with knitting and sewing for school and when she became a surgeon and was skilled at doing stitches we all knew it wasn’t any eminent professor who had taught her well. It was Bridie at her kitchen table after a long night shift in Merlin Park. Hospital. She was a second mother to my children and they spent every spare minute with her, Tommy, and Audrey. We were so blessed to have Bridie in our lives. So many people have told me how kind and caring she was as a nurse and what fun and brightness she brought into patients’ lives. We will miss you greatly Bridie.
